Passing Out

Well, it is that time of year again. Or that time of the semester where I get to tell you all what I got. Since technically I only had one class and the others are pass/fail, I got an A-. I also passed my theory class.

So since some have asked, I will be coming back to Utah on December 22nd. I should be arriving around 2-3PM and will be heading straight . . . somewhere. Thus far the only night I have booked on my schedule is New Years Eve which will be fun, dang it! So . . . I'll see you all soon. In the mean time, Happy Boxing Day!

I Don't Have to Wake Up

Morning. I took my final, I saw a few clients, and I don't have to wake up tomorrow. I haven't been able to do this in quite a while, especially mid-week. I am a very happy person right now. I just wanted to share.

Chef Totino Got Back Up Again

Previously I mentioned about the e-coli problem with some Totino's pizzas. Well, today I received the coupons for my free pizzas. In fact, I received another persons coupons as well. Lucky me! Here is the official letter.

Coming Home

So, I'm guessing one of my roommates are sick. I'm not sure how I got that impression.

Thanks Mark!

Secret Agent Man

Last night I worked on Crisis Triage. We had 8 intakes and 5 discharges (which is a lot) and the night was extremely busy.

So I started out the night doing a bit of homework and then a call comes in. I answered with my typical, "Crisis Triage, this is John." I then hear a heavy sigh, a bout of laughter, another sigh, a forced exhale and then a woman with a nasally voice starts off, "You know the problems with our politicians are . . ." She then continues on a 5 minute spiel of how politicians are corrupt, how they should be answering the crisis line to respond to client's calls, how inappropriate it is for them not to take feedback from the public, and then how wrong it is for somebody to state their name when answering the phone. She then hung up. I sat in silence, holding back a laugh. Now, I have nothing against this woman except for the fact she called A CRISIS LINE to complain about things which we have absolutely no control over.

But hey I guess everybody has to vent every now and again. After all, it did give me a good laugh and made the night just a tad more enjoyable.

A Memorable Day

In thinking about this post I was reminded of another client I worked with previously. So in short, yesterday was an interesting day.

I woke up, played around for a few hours then went to work. At work we were warned that everybody was out of control. With this in mind I stepped out the doors ready for the worst. It really wasn't that bad. Sure there were some disorganized and sexually preoccupied people, but nothing too serious. Except for a 75 year old macking on a 38 year old. But that happens in everyday society so no shock, eh?

But the thing that irked me was a client that came back in for the fourth time in as many months. Without giving a history, let me say that he is completely frustrated with the system. So yesterday I did the intake for him at the psych unit. When working with him previously, I empathized with the fact he was in a place he didn't want to be. I felt his frustration when they were drugging him up so strongly that he couldn't stay awake for more than an hour. I tried to make things easier by helping him see what he could do to work with the system even though he didn't want to be there. This time, he stated that he is going to voice his frustrations. Unfortunately, other things are coming in to play that make it more difficult.

So after admitting him, there were other people that were out of control. Of course their mental illnesses have great control over them and we're trying to get them stabilized. While having a somewhat difficult night, I left on lunch to grab some food from Arby's. On my way there I saw a raccoon crossing the road. Fortunately I didn't hit it. While at Arby's I ordered my food and patiently waited for a minute or two. Then three, four, five, then six. I did my best to remain calm, but I realized my facial expression betrayed me. I am guessing the guy who took my order saw my face and realized I was annoyed. So to make me feel better he gave me twice as many curly fries. I did not object and made sure to vocalize my appreciation.

I drove back to work with less than five minutes to eat my lunch. So for once I decided to take a longer lunch (since I never take a break) and enjoy my meal. While hiding out in a separate room, I was invaded by another coworker or two. In a way I was glad because they finished the rest of the curly fries that I could not.

So I went back to the unit late which was noticed by the shift lead. Ah well. I returned, helped a few people out and the night was coming to an end. While some were watching a movie, the guy I admitted kept walking from the bathroom back to the recreation room, then back to the bathroom. I asked what he was looking for and he said, "I'm hoping for a miracle." After talking to him for a bit, he showed me that the toilet had been leaking for at least the past day. Maintenance came up, stopped the leak and I cleaned up the mess. Well, afterwards he was talking to another staff member and became extremely agitated. He began speaking very loudly at her (not shouting, but pretty close) and would not accept redirection.

So, being his contact person, I attempted to deescalate him. When seeing anyone else, he continued vocalizing his frustration. I attempted to lead him away from the other staff members, but they kept following.

In a sense that frustrates me. I state that I will take care of something and they continue to follow me. I understand they are concerned that the client will get more angry, but thus far a client has not harmed me. I had a good rapport with this client and I knew it was not an issue. But still, they followed. So finally the client stated that I was the only one he would talk to. Because the other staff members would not back down, the client went into an unlocked observation room for a while. Since the staff members still would not back down, I told the client I would come and talk with him in about 15 minutes.

The staff members left and I went and talked to him. The client was very vocal about his anger. He was swearing, shouting, and being very passionate about expressing his frustrations. Amidst this he then said, "You know I have nothing against you, right?"

I share this for several reasons. This guy most certainly has a mental illness that he is not aware of. I feel that we have a good enough relationship that I can now discuss it with him. However he is jaded and angry at the system. Because he isn't handling himself appropriately, he is reinforcing the negative behavior received by the staff. When talking with him, I warned him that if he continues this behavior he will end up in locked seclusion and possibly get long term treatment. I talked with him about alternative approaches he could take to make his time there better. I won't be back there until Saturday, so all I can do is hope that he took my advice.

After this occurred, the power went out at work. It flashed off for 10 seconds, and then the backup generator kicked in. Since the doors on the unit are attached to a system of magnets, when the power goes out there is nothing to keep them closed so they automatically unlock. In short, we sat there for another 30 minutes standing by the doors, hoping no clients would attempt to escape. Fortunately they did not, so we went home.

While driving home, I saw another raccoon crossing the road. I didn't hit it.

So yesterday was frustrating. As I have said before, I have frustrations with the mental health system. Also frustrations with the clients. There is a huge gap that is not being bridged. Although I doubt I can do it alone, it is certainly one thing that I can do while I am working in this field. I've decided that when I go into counseling, that is a group I would like to work with. Those that have been newly introduced into the mental health system. Those who may have been diagnosed with a mental illness and have not yet learned about the system or how they can survive in it.

With that said, I have learned that the gentleman that I referred to in the very beginning of this post is now fine. With the help from a good counselor, he survived and is much better off. I am still frustrated, but only time will tell how this will play out. I will simply do my best.

Psychoanalytic Perspective of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy

I am writing a paper comparing and contrasting psychoanalytic and cognitive-behavioral theories and during some of my research I found a picture of Freud's couch. Now . . . even if you were alive during his lifetime . . . would you really want to lie down on his couch?

So, tell me about your mother . . .

Moooving Along

Well, I am E-coli free. I'll admit, I wasn't really concerned about the E-coli scare because according to stats, only 1% of people who are exposed to it come down with symptoms. So, I'm great!

As for what I'm going through . . . I'm still counseling like crazy and taking advantage of my cotherapy partner (in a good way). Apparently we're supposed to start counseling solo pretty soon, so I'm using my cotherapy partner so we can split up some of our couples and talk to them at the same time in different rooms. Basically things I'll never be able to do again because I'll have only one head instead of two. Another thing that is happening is we're choosing where to go for our offsites. I want to go to Good Samaritan because of the different groups that they work with.

These include youth and adults, older adults (geriatric), some with long term mental illnesses, and some developmentally disabled clients as well. I hope I go there, but if not I'll make the best of it anyway.

Aside from that I have a 10 page paper due on Wednesday which I've been having a hard time focusing on due to therapy and class, but hopefully I'll get it done.

Enjoy your weekend!

Chef Totino is Going Down

Well, I didn't think that my next post would be about an E-coli scare, but so it is. Today General Mills informed the public that they are recalling many of their pizzas because of possible contamination of the pepperoni toppings on some of their pizzas. Here is the entire story. So I'm sending in my UPC's for free coupons for more pizzas. However, I did eat one of their pizzas yesterday.

In short I may be expecting some . . . gastrointestinal issues with a possible fever. Or . . . everything may be perfectly fine (which I'm expecting). So . . . they state that if you're infected with it and if your kidneys don't shut down, everything will be out of your system in 5-10 days. Fun, eh? Aside from elaborating about my digestion system, I'll let you know.

Have a glorious new month.

Going Through Old Photos

So, I was going through some photographs that I've taken in the past year . . . and here's a few I'd like to share. Some have meaning, some don't. I'll explain those that do.

Last year in mid-December, the power went out for almost an entire day. During which I finally got to use a candle holder that someone made me for my birthday.

Now is this food, art, or so much grease you could choke an aardvark with it?

Tribute to Krista's father. Clouds. I also saw this on the way to New Mexico.

Now, I know this is a piece of kids art . . . but to sleep in a room with this on the wall. Can you say NIGHTMARE?

That is a toilet knob. Now, don't they make baby food?

My Favorite Things

There are certain things I love in life more than others. Yes, a friend of mine (who shall remain nameless and blogless) posted about this a while ago, but I recently rediscovered two things I love that are very simple.

1. Eating at a new place where the food is good. (Me and a few people went to Sushi Revolution this evening.)

2. Getting a replacement blade for my electric razor. Which means a close yet comfortable shave the next morning.

Oh . . . and therapy is going well . . . bla, bla bla.

Rainydays and Mondays

I am not a big fan of the rain. I hate it, in fact. And here it has been raining for two weeks straight. However, I do love driving through huge puddles of water. In fact, at times I drive down certain roads when it is raining just so I can drive through the huge puddles. One of my favorites is in the parking lot of the campus building I spend all my time at. The parking lot is like a small valley and of course when it rains, a puddle forms which I have affectionately started calling Lake Parkland. When I walk through it, it goes up to my ankles, however for many of my classmates it goes up to their thighs. Considering I'm at work, I think I'll have to drive by there on my way home. Lets just hope I don't hydroplane. Enjoy!

Trip O' Fun

Well, I made it back from Disneyland in one piece . . . with some fudge, a lot of candy, and a souvenir or two. It was a fun trip, condensed but fun. I'm really excited that I was able to spend some time with my niece and nephew in a fun place. On the second day there was so much we wanted to do and no time to do it in, so I hope we can try it again in the future. Also as a part of The Year of A Million Dreams, a few people in my party got a dream fastpass. For those of you unfamiliar with Disneyland and a fastpass, basically it is a free ticket to get to the front of any ride. Pretty nice, eh? So we got them, used them, and had a good time. Here, look at how happy I was.Oh wait . . . that would be tired. Ah well, it was a busy few days. And now I'm back doing therapy again. I've got to say, I wasn't that excited to go back to work (I'm still not, in fact) but I'm enjoying therapy again.

Oh, and if you're wondering this is how me and my cotherapy partner looked after our first day of doing therapy.

Something On My Mind

Well, this isn't a good story, but it is important nonetheless.

Several months ago I was working with a woman who was extremely stressed about her relationship with her husband. She felt like he was blaming her for everything but she knew better. She actually knew that everything was his fault. While talking to me she attempted to have me side with her regarding the decisions that she made, but I did not. I had no reason to. So as far as I knew, this woman overcame her temporary obstacle and returned to the normal world.

Yesterday I come to work and see this woman again. I looked at her chart and found out she came in because of stress because of the death of her husband. She has been distraught and suicidal ever since.

Isn't it amazing to learn how much you truly love someone. I just hope we all express it and make the most we have with our time together.

Thanks for reading, seriously.

Nothing to Say

Well, I had probably do one more post before the end of the month. But what to say? I'm doing therapy and loving it. I'm working and loving it. I'm going to school and . . . well . . . preferring not to go so I can do more therapy and work . . . but at least the professor keeps things interesting. And of course, I'm somewhat distracted because I'll be leaving the state in a little over two weeks. So . . . what can I really say to update anyone? Oh, I know. I'll take a few pictures of my new place . . . next time.

Frustration and Joy

So apparently I like things in twos, so I'll mention two things here.

First, when did people stop thinking for themselves. I was sitting at a stoplight, as I watched the cars on the opposite side of the road passing me. (Notice the diagram below since I'm more of a visual person). I sat and noticed a person standing at the corner waiting to cross the street. So, the street light changed and cars in the opposite direction started going. I watched them as they traveled to their desired destinations. In the mean time, the person (the purple dot and the red arrow symbolizes the direction they wanted to go) just sat there staring at the red hand telling him he couldn't walk. Whether he did not press the button so the red hand would change to the green guy walking, I don't know but because it did not change he did not move and continued to stare. As the light changed again, I passed him, staring at his dumbfounded face while he continued to stand on the corner.

So this is my question . . . when did people stop thinking for themselves? Why do they have to rely on technology to tell them when they need to take a step? Have we become so dependent that we are unable to make the most basic decisions for ourselves? I mean seriously, how sad is it?

On a second note, it seems that my cotherapist and I are on the same page. We started finishing each others sentences, thoughts, and have had the exact same ideas in therapy (even though we didn't express them in therapy). I think it is fun and amazing that someone I just really started associating with a month ago can have such a similar understanding of what might be helpful to the client. I love it. Also, no matter how late I finish with therapy, I'll always get home earlier than I would from work.

Arrrrrrrrrrrrrr Matey

This past week has been rather drainin'. I started therapy and have tried t' get used t' me new schedule. Also, for clients I received quite an extensive caseload so gettin' everythin' scheduled has been quite a challenge. That along with t' idea that I still need t' work, study, go t' school, and receive additional trainin' for everythin'. But despite t' business, I be very happy. So many thin's be goin' well and I'm enjoyin' t' experience. So what if I no longer get 10 hours o' sleep a night. I'm makin' a difference . . . or so I hope. I guess t' next client will tell

P.S. Happy Talk Like A Pirate Day.

Crawling Into My Cave

I've noticed that I'm already doing this, so you have been warned.

Whenever a major change happens in my life, I modify my interactions. When I'm home, I don't want to speak to anyone, I just want to relax and be alone. Since I am starting a new semester, therapy, and a major change to my work schedule this is what I am doing now. It is a pattern I tend to follow because with the busy schedule I am so saturated with human contact and interactions that I just need some time to myself. So if I don't answer the phone sometimes or I don't want to hang out, this is why. I need time to adjust to the new situation and once done, I'll return to my normal semi-social self.

However, this does not mean do not call or invite me to do things. I will let you know what state I'm in and if that's a day when I just need to be alone.

Thank you for reading.

Therapizers Are Us

Two things.

First . . .

Monday at work I saw the cutest thing. Yes, cute. While sitting by the nurses station I saw two people walking down the hallway. A male and a female. Each wearing their matching hospital gowns, same length hair, and they walked so close that they could have been holding hands. They walked at the same pace and although they weren't touching nor had they known each other for more than a day, it was adorable. You know, the same type of adorable as two old people walking down the edge of a stream holding hands right before they fall in. That type of adorable.

Secondly, today I made my first contact with clients. We had training on what to do to prepare for it, I had my first supervision meeting today, and so far everything is going good. It appears that I . . . or I should say my cotherapy partner and I will be working with our first client next Thursday.

Wish me cheese.

No Rest For You!!!

You know when you have a day and you think, "Oh great. I can sleep in tomorrow." It seems pretty exciting because you know you can relax undisturbed. Well today while trying to sleep in I awoke to a barrage of lawn mowers eating the mountains of grass outside my apartment. It wouldn't have been bad except for, "It's Labor Day. Take the cursed day off." So I was planning on sleeping in until 10:00 and they woke me up at 9:48. How dare they get me up so early.

New Month, New Home, New Life

Well, I successfully found a place to live, moved, and am relatively happy. Of course I'm getting adjusted again, but I slept much better this past evening than the night before. I am now living on the outer edges of Puyallup and next time I will post pics of the place again (as I did when I moved to my first place). This post is just to let everyone know that the move went okay and aside from having to drive farther, I'm happy. I'm living with two other guys in a good size apartment, so all is well. Also, grade came out and I got two A- in my classes. Not bad.

Tuesday is the first day of school for the semester and the last day of easy life until 2009. And the week after I will start doing counseling. Ah well. It should be grand, shouldn't it?

Food and a Lunar Eclipse

So here I am, observing the phenomena known as a lunar eclipse. I remember when I was going in for my back surgery, I was informed that a solar eclipse would be occurring within the next hour. Obviously, I was not able to observe it. So here I am observing its sister phenomena. Slow moving, but interesting nonetheless. As I stare at it, the moon is orange. Most of it is darker, hidden in the shadow of the earth. It makes me think of varying prophecies that state the moon will turn to blood. Does it mean blood, or is it simply a lunar eclipse? From the brief research I have done it says the moon turns many different shades during this phenomena. Orange is one, I am guessing red is another since they're so close. Maybe I'll have time to see it, maybe not. Nonetheless according to the news, this will occur for the next several hours. Within 45 minutes or so, the moon will be completely dark. Within a few more hours, it will slowly become brighter again as it pulls itself out from behind the earth (if I understand this properly, that is). No, it is nothing royally exciting nor compelling. Yet, at the same time I find it intriguing. The full moon is a different shade, it is slowly becoming darker, and I am freezing on the porch.

On a side note, at work today I was on the detox unit. A coworker and I spoke about food, its preparation, and how homegrown foods are the best for nearly 45 minutes. I was so hungry afterward I could have eaten . . . well, a lot. Why has the definition of 'homemade' become something that you made at home, even if most of it came out of a box? Why does it not mean, made from scratch? How times change and people become more stupid.

Rocky Bottoms

Well, only two posts this month. Lets just say a lot of things have been happening as I mentioned before. I'm going to move within the next week . . . but to where is the question.

All is more or less well. I start counseling in two weeks, I took an extra shift at my job, I'm taking the day off to attempt to fully recuperate from my cold.

So why am I posting? Just to let you know . . . absolutely nothing. Aside from that, I did have a fun time going home and hanging out/visiting with most of you. And if I didn't whose fault is that?

Cheese!

Downer of the Week

So, I found out today that as of the end of September I will no longer be employed by Pierce County. I don't know what is going to happen, but I am going to miss the job. I loved it, loved working with the people, and learned so much in the process. I'm really not sure what to do. I'll keep you posted.

Life-Free Stress

Well, here is an update as to what is going on.

First, my job is having some issues. I have no issues with it, but apparently the State of Washington doesn't think that my employer (Pierce County) is doing a good job in treating the clientele that it does. They believe we are wasting money and that they could do a better job of it. As such, there is a major audit going on and my employer may be shutting down as of September. It has brought some major stress to everyone there because most of us like our jobs and the paychecks we bring home. So suddenly being faced with the fact that all of us may be unemployed in a few months is a little . . . disheartening.

Also, I cannot come back to Utah to visit for two weeks as planned. Since I have been searching for a new place to live I have been forced to limit my time to one week. This means I will have less time with my family, my nieces and nephew (which deserve their own category), my friends, and I will miss Johnny's wedding. Unfortunately this is the price one must pay to go to school while living in a different state. My apologies for all those I will not be able to spend as much time with as I have desired.

So once I return to Washington, I will have another week to work at my job and after that I might be unemployed. Also, I will be moving that week and starting counseling the next. Many things are going on right now and I'm handling it to the best of my ability so if my judgement is temporarily impaired or if my mood isn't always perfectly stable, you know why.

Life leads us down many interesting roads and all we can do is try to avoid the potholes. Best wishes, for now.

the Tides are Turning

I figure, if I can whine on these things I can tell you when I've had a pretty good day, can't I? Well if I do, I'll let you know.

Six Month Anniversary

Guess what? Today is my six month anniversary at my job. And my response today as opposed to my first day of work, "Wahoo!!!" Who knew I'd love it so. Even I didn't.

Sushi Me

So today was my first sushi experience. Me, Melissa, and Penn went to Two Koi Japanese Cuisine and had one of their entrees. I chose the Regular Bento which included salmon teriyaki, four pieces of sushi, two pieces of shrimp tempura (in short, breaded), two pieces of vegetable tempura, a tuna roll and seasoned rice. It really wasn't that bad at all. Admittedly I could not handle two of the four pieces of sushi because the texture was too soft and squishy, for which my gag reflex made it very difficult. It was a good experience and more importantly, I learned how to use chopsticks. Thanks Melissa!

And if you you didn't read my previous post, it contained some sad news. Asi es la vida.

I'm Moving

Well, much to my dismay I will be moving within the next few months. My roommate told me he is converting his home into a home business which means I will be homeless. Have I mentioned how much I hate moving? Well, I do. I've had a good year here . . . but the problem is it has only been a year. Although I admit, the timing isn't that bad. So now I'm searching for a new place. I hate this part.

Survival of the Stupidest

Well, I survived Friday the 13th. I'm just glad it wasn't a full moon. Work was very interesting. Fortunately nothing horrible happened, but it was busy. I had the privilege of working with someone I don't want because when she asks you to do something she also immediately proceeds in telling you how to do it. Funny thing is, I've been doing this job for more than 5 months now and if I don't know, I'll ask. Otherwise, I can do it just fine. Ah well, as with any job you have to adjust according to who you work with. So I adjusted, had fun with the medicated and not so crazy people and survived. I also have the pleasure of working this evening on Triage. Saturdays are usually very busy so I'm somewhat excited to see what I'll encounter. Nonetheless, it will be good. I guess that's about it. Nothing new and exciting. Now if you'll excuse me I'm going to run a few miles.

My New Toy

So I bought a new laptop the other day (somehow I knew I couldn't slide that into a casual conversation) and this thing is da shiz! I mean seriously. So it is a Mac Book, the memory is good, it weighs three pounds max, and has enough power to kill a dozen horses. Or something like that, so lately I've been playing with some of the features. And little did I know that it would have a built in camera . . . so here's a photo.

Dell Customer Service

You guessed it. I am looking into buying a laptop for ease and so I decided to contact Dell. Well, I know pretty much everything I needed excluding having one simple question. Lets see how the conversation went, of course with comments, shall we? My thoughts and comments will be in red either before or after those from Ragne.

1:08:26 PM -System Initial Question/Comment: I am considering adding the TV Tuner & Remote Control Bundle to the notebook I am ordering. I would like more info beforehand.
1:08:37 PM-System: Ragne has joined this session!
1:08:38 PM-System: Connected with Ragne
1:08:38 PM-Ragne: Thank you for contacting the Dell Employee and Student Purchase Program. My name is Ragne, I will be your personal assistant today. I will be glad to assist you with your questions.
Personal assistant? Why can't I have one of those in real life?
1:08:42 PM-Ragne: To be sure that I can further assist you, may I have the name of the company or institution that you work for?
Why in the . . . well, by saying this I won't be lying but I won't be entirely truthful either.
1:08:54 PM-Me: Pacific Lutheran University
1:09:07 PM-Ragne: Thank you.
1:09:34 PM-Me: You're welcome.
1:10:02 PM-Ragne: How may I help you?
1:10:34 PM-Me: I would like to know how the TV Tuner & Remote Control Bundle works to see if I want to add it to my future purchase of a notebook.
Here we go again. I guess I should have specified how it attaches to the notebook.
1:11:22 PM-Ragne: A TV tuner allows you to receive TV signals from antenna, cable TV or VCR on their PC.
1:11:41 PM-Ragne: What does the Media Center remote do? From the comfort of your easy chair or across your living room, you can use the remote to browse Media Center, including the TV program guide listings, recorded TV, music, photos, and videos. You can also make your selections by artist, show or album title, or genre. When you're not using the remote, you can also access Media Center by using a mouse and keyboard. (Optional TV Tuner required to watch and record TV)
Oh look, an answer that they pulled from an online system so they do not actually need to be aware of the products they sell or their functionality. Wonderful!
1:12:38 PM-Me: By that I am guessing you would need to plug it into the receiver (for example from Comcast) at which point it is then connected to your PC. Is it wirelessly connected to the laptop or not?
Better clarify.
1:12:53 PM-Me: Correction, not PC . . . notebook.
1:14:12 PM-Ragne: On a notebook the TV Turner is connected to the USB port.
Um . . . duh.
1:14:37 PM-Ragne: May I know what model are you interested in?
1:15:12 PM-Me: Unfortunately the one showing on your site that can be included with the notebooks does not have a model number or additional info listed.
Besides, I already tried to do some research on that one specifically before contacting you. If it had a model number, I would not be asking for your assistance, now would I?
1:15:26 PM-Me: That is the one that I'm curious about though.
1:15:52 PM-Ragne: Have you saved the cart?
Not grammatically correct . . . alright.
1:15:57 PM-Me: Yes
1:16:17 PM-Ragne: May I have the e-mail address that you used to save your cart in order to review it?
1:16:37 PM-Me: E-mail address removed
1:16:47 PM-Ragne: Thank you.
1:17:01 PM-Ragne: Give me a moment while I look for the information.
1:17:31 PM-Ragne: There are 3 computers in your cart. What is the price of the one you were planning on buying before discounts?
Then you obviously did not look in the cart, did you?
1:17:54 PM-Me: There is one computer, a mouse, and a program.
1:18:16 PM-Me: The computer's price is $1992.00
1:19:41 PM-Ragne: All the systems you have saved give the option to have TV Turner.
Considering there is only one computer . . . that is true! You deserve the "Mister or Madam Obvious Award" for the day!
1:20:10 PM-Me: This is correct, and that is the TV tuner I am wondering about because no additional info was given regarding it.
1:21:56 PM-Ragne: Do you have any other questions on Tv Turner?
Considering you did not even answer the question I asked, yes . . . I most certainly do.
1:22:39 PM-Me: One moment, please allow me to rephrase my request.
1:23:22 PM-Ragne: No problem.
Let's play stupid now, shall we?
1:24:32 PM-Me: You stated, "A TV tuner allows you to receive TV signals from antenna, cable TV or VCR on their PC." I understand. Say I am 50 feet from the television and the Tuner is plugged into my notebook. Would I need a cord long enough to stretch across the room to also be plugged into my television receiver at the same time or is there another way to do it?
1:27:07 PM-Ragne: What do I need to purchase in order to connect my Media Center PC to a TV? You will need a graphics card with an S-video or DVI output port.
Once again, I have no idea so I'm going to utilize this online resource that will not adequately answer your question.
1:27:32 PM-Ragne: I need a TV feed (cable/satellite/antenna) to the TV I have connected to a Media Center Extender No, the TV feed will come through your Media Center PC, and then be carried over the home network (either wireless A network or wired network) to the Extender. A wireless A router is recommended for wireless networking since it doesn’t interfere with things like the cordless telephone. Microsoft recommends using a wired network to extend TV or Music content.
You need one? Great, go get one and give me to somebody else who can help me instead of helping you!
1:29:36 PM-Me: So, with the notebook I have saved in my cart, excluding the components for a home network, would you say that I have the required components for this to function properly?
I'm guessing the answer will be a resounding yes since they doubtfully know the difference between their mouth and their . . . ear.
1:31:08 PM-Ragne: To make it part of the Wireless network you will need a wireless router.
1:31:29 PM-Me: Yes, that is part of the home network I was referring to. I already have that set up here. My apologies, I should have said wireless network instead of home network.
1:32:56 PM-Ragne: Great. Then you have everything to make the TV Turner part of it.
Somehow, I doubt your knowledge of the product. Alright, time to run screaming.
1:33:12 PM-Me: Sounds good. Thank you so much for your assistance. I believe that is it.
1:33:32 PM-Ragne: Is there anything else I can be helpful?
Lets see, bad grammar. Should I say, "Yes there is something else you can be helpful!" Nah. I know they're required to ask this but I already answered the question. Lets insert some sarcasm here.
1:34:04 PM-Me: No, I believe you have helped enough. Thank you!
They have most certainly helped enough.
1:34:29 PM-Ragne: Thank you for using Dell Chat. Please contact us again if you have any further questions. Have a nice day.
1:34:36 PM-Me: Have fun over there.
1:34:37 PM-System: Ragne has left this session!
1:34:37 PM-System: The session has ended!

Super Busy

It has been the most interesting day . . . and yet not. I woke up, poked around for a while, went food shopping while talking to my sister for nearly two hours. Overall, it was great fun. Then I stuffed myself with a massive breakfast until I went to work. I ended up on my more favorite of the three units, Crisis Triage. For the first several hours the phone would not stop ringing, I did an intake and finally after four hours, I was able to pause for a breather. Two of my clients were Spanish speaking, one of which asked me 30 questions every time he passed me in the hall and the other . . . lets just say I needed to do some translating I never thought I would have to. So finally on my break I went outside and got locked out of the building in an area that is fenced off and has no other access to any other doors. So I hopped the 10 foot fence (boy was I scared when I jumped off the top) and safely hit the grass. I returned inside and kept working until the next intake I was going to do was a woman who only spoke Vietnamese. It was impossible to communicate. Several people tried to call a translator . . . but at 10:00PM on a Friday, who is really doing that anyway? So fortunately one of my friends speaks some Vietnamese. I received permission, had her explain two very brief things to the client and the client went to bed. If someone is in a crisis and they come to crisis triage . . . don't you think they should be able to explain what the crisis is? Nonetheless, she went to bed . . . I filled out other paperwork and came back home.

So what did I learn? I need to brush up on my Spanish vocabulary, I need to calm down when there is a lot going on, and lastly . . . I need to avoid going out that door ever again.

Quotable Quotes

I've been wanting to do this for a while, just post some quotes that I love. Some of them are out of context, but they make me smile anyway. Free lunch to whoever can accurately guess where they're from.

C: Does this look like the work of little green men?
M: Grey . . . The Reticulan skin tone is actually grey. They're notorious for their extraction of terrestrial human livers due to iron depletion in the Reticulan galaxy.
C: You can't be serious.
M: Do you have any idea what liver and onions go for on Reticula?

M: (While looking at a magazine centerfold) This woman claims to have been taken on board a spaceship, and held in an anti-gravity chamber without food and water for three days.
S: Anti-gravity is right.

M: I would never lie - I willfully participated in a campaign of misinformation.

M: I have to admit I've fulfilled one of my boyhood fantasies.
S: Yeah, it ranks right up there with getting a pony and learning to braid my own hair.

RO: Well sir, the 'meteor' seems to be hovering over a small town in east Wisconsin.

S: So what is our profile of the killer? Indeterminate height, weight, sex. Unarmed, but extremely attractive?

And my favorite thus far:

SD: Ninety-nine percent of people in this world are fools, and the rest of us are in great danger of contagion.

That's as far as I've gone as of yet. I'll add more later . . . whether you care or not.

NEW UPDATE, HURRAH

Well, not so much a new update as much as I wanted to change it from the previous post and nothing exciting is going on. Hmmm . . . what could I say? Hey, I know! Two great things.

1) I learned that one of my horribly lazy ex-coworkers will no longer be working there soon. Hurrah! I'm excited for all of my other ex-coworkers because now they don't have to deal with his crap (in more ways then one, I'll let you imagine that).

2) On Friday I went to an amazing wine bar called Café Divino. The crab cakes were wonderful and the ocean of crab was succulent, flavorful, and divine. I guess the restaurant lived up to its name. And if you know me then no I didn't have any wine. Sheesh, why even ask?

So yeah! That's the update. Cheese!

Another Grade Update

Howdy, yes it's that time of year again. And once again, "this is not to show off or brag, it is simply an update for those at home who are wondering how I did."

Now there had better not be any undue pressure to do this again.

Jam Packed Month

First . . .

Happy Birthday Dad!!!
I hope you have a joyous one!

Secondly, I figure since people don't know what my schedule normally is . . . here it is.

Those are the classes listed . . . which means most likely I'll be working on Monday, Friday, and Saturday since I can't most other days of the week. Not fun, but it is only that jam packed for one month. The next one will be easier . . . so if I don't see, talk to, or have time to think about anyone in June . . . my apologies. So I'll just say ahead of time . . . Happy Birthday, Happy Flag Day, Happy Father's Day, and Happy Summer Solstice!

Cheese, Glorious Cheese

If I didn't already know there was a God, this would have confirmed it to me today. To preface, last night while at work it was a slow evening. So toward the end I was sitting outside of the dining room watching the news. Suddenly I saw a story about the Annual Seattle Cheese Festival. My jaw almost dropped to the floor. It was free and you could sample over 200 cheeses. Now admittedly, I've never been there but this sounded pretty close to heaven. So a friend and I went there today and I had loads and LOADS of cheese. Lets just say I think I was as close to heaven as I could get thus far. Who would have known? So much cheese, no fee. I love it!

Elderly Appreciation

So at my job there is a gentleman about the age of 80 who I have had the privilege of working with (no, no sarcasm). He is so kind and gentle. Honestly, I've had a problem working with him previously because he is frequently incontinent and I have difficulties cleaning him up. Well, tonight was slower and there were no problems or arguments so I was spending the end of the night outside of the dining room watching TV. I hear this elderly gentleman shout 'help' randomly for a few minutes with people going in and out. Finally at one point I decide to go in and visit him. I sit in his wheelchair beside his bed and ask him how he is. "Oh, not too bad I'd say." He responds. So for nearly 30 minutes I sat there and talked with him. We talked about his family, when he was a child going to school with his siblings, his farm, and his 1929 Ford with a crank in the front to make it go. I did not want to stop talking to him, but I had to go home.

It was a good experience. Honestly, I'm a little less afraid of the elderly now.

A Touch of Reality

Last night I had a dream that I was a client at my job. I was doing well during my stay. However I was approached by a staff member who insisted that I needed to take an ativan. I told them I was fine and I didn't need to take it, however the more I resisted the more he insisted. I kept getting more and more frustrated because he wouldn't listen to me or leave me alone. Finally I relented and took the stupid drug just so he would stop harassing me.

When I woke up I remembered the dream. The frustration I felt because no matter what I said, he wouldn't listen to me. I wonder if that's how some of the clients feel.

Oh . . . and Happy Mother's Day.

What Separates Us?

What happens when you put 6 people in a 6x12 area and tell them all to work on different things at once? Chaos. Pure and utter chaos. As such, this one of the six people has decided to separate himself to an office much further away so they can work, whine, scream, and run without me blocking their way. Fortunately down here a window is open, there is a nice breeze, and the sun is still out showing its rays in all its glory.

Yes, I am at work. Now that I'm away from the stress, I am happy and content. I think I'll stay down in this solitary office a bit longer.

I do have one question though. If client's are said to be angry and hostile (according to every other staff member), why are they not angry and hostile around me? I'm not saying I want them to be that way, but I wonder how the staff is interpreting the signals of the clients.

Another point I would like to ask is why are the simplest behaviors horribly pathologized in those people that are mentally ill. As a non-mentally ill person (although my ex-coworkers may disagree) I have my moods of happiness, sadness, random anger and frustration. If suddenly I have a mental illness, these simple moods are interpreted as something much more significant. Why must everything be pathologized? Does it make it easier for the 'mentally stable' people to categorize and lock away the 'mentally unstable'? I mean, some of my current coworkers SHOULD be clients instead of staff. But because of that minor distinction, all of their quirks are ignored. Can somebody do something about that?

the Extravaganza Begins

Well, as (many of) you (may) know today is my birthday. Since very few of you are living up here, I figured I'd do a photo journal for the day to let you know how everything went.

So, I had such great plans for today.

Alas I didn't fall asleep until 1:00AM. I did sleep but was awakened by this gorgeous little female voice at 6:09 AM (PDT) who said, "Good Morning Sunshine." Probably the most hated phrase in the history of the human language aside from, "We have to talk." If she didn't sound so cute, I might have yelled something at her. We spoke momentarily, and I went back to bed.

After unsuccessfully lying in bed for a while (well, I was lying there well but at that point sleep had eluded me), I decided to get up. I called my Mom at 8:08AM for no apparent reason and we spoke for a bit.

Afterwards I checked my e-mail and heard from a few friends and got a few more phone calls. I figured sooner or later I ought to get dressed, so I showered. I didn't do my hair, how does it look?

Then I sat at my computer trying to do homework until around 12:00 when I decided to go investigate a mini forest nearby where I live. This is what I found.

So after a good walk I came back home.

I checked on Chewie,

but decided not to bother him so I made myself a breakfast I haven't made in a long time. Pancakes. Not just any pancakes, but those that are so thick that when you pour syrup into them . . . the syrup disappears almost instantly.

Fortunately by that time Chewie was up and outside.

And I got to pull out a hole in my pancakes which I consider the 'syrup holder' to dunk the rest of them in.

Ah it was good. Then off back to my computer to finish an assigment that is due tomorrow. Four hours later, I finished and decided to reward myself by watching a movie.

Then I did some laundry . . . (look at the water, isn't that cool?)

Then my friend Melissa came over and we did homework together . . .

I got a phone call from my father . . . and I ate ice cream.

Now there are 10 minutes to go and the day is over. Thanks everyone for participating, it was a glorious day.

Going through the Motions

So on April 27th when I got to work . . . for the first time I didn't need to pull out my clients charts to look at their history and see what I needed to do. I mention this because normally I'm lost and confused and I don't know how to help my clients. This time, I remembered some of them and (unfortunately) most of them needed the same thing. I guess, in short, you could say that I'm getting used to my job. I'm not as worried or concerned as I once was and I'm falling into the correct habit. Isn't it nice?

Also on a side note, in class today we will be discussing ethical genetics. In other words, if you as an individual have a disease that may be passed down to your children, will this change your mind as to whether or not you want to have children? Will you have kids anyway? If you do, when will you tell them they may have this life altering disease or physical disability? It will be quite an interesting discussion, I must say.

Priceless

So last night at work I got to be in charge of our arts and crafts group. This is what I did.

Sure the colors are off (grass green was actually a blue, rust was green, and red was fushia), so I gave up and just used whatever colors I felt like. Nonetheless, while coloring it I earned $30. Have I mentioned lately how much I love my job?

Comment About Society

So I first heard of this song at my previous job where one of my coworkers dedicated it to my first cousin once removed (who also worked there).

Black Eyed Peas - My Humps

Now I'm a big fan of Alanis, and seeing her mock the above video so (and which some say is a way to point out how sad our society has truly become) is something I believe needed to be done. Isn't it funny that when you slow down the tune, how ridiculous the song becomes?

Happy Days

Howdy Peeps. Nothing too big happening right now. I'm doing homework still, going to work at the crazy factory every other day and trying to entertain myself when I have a chance. Easter was nice and uneventful. I was able to spend some time with some friends. Also for the first time ever I got to have a webcam chat/conversation with Cris which we all know I've been excited about for a long time because I have desperately wanted to see my niece and nephew. It was a lot of fun.

As some of you may know my parents came up to Washington for spring break, and it was a lot of fun as well. We did some touristy things in Seattle and they got to see where I live now that I'm settled in. Sure I had to interrupt our stay by going to a 5 1/2 hour CPR training where I got to give mouth to mouth to a dummy that vomited at random . . . but it was all worthwhile.

Also yesterday I went to Katie Downs with some second year students. It was a lot of fun. So although I was somewhat lonely when I initially moved up here, that has pretty much been resolved. Also I've been quite busy, but more importantly I've been enjoying it. So life is good. How's yours?

Big Brother

I found this the other day. I don't think it is entirely true, and even if it is . . . so what?

P.S. Is it a bad sign when a paranoid schizophrenic with delusions of grandeur tells you to shave your sideburns?

An Odd Twist

I woke up early to go to work and I realized I didn't have to work until the night shift. I'm dead tired, but yet I'm really REALLY happy about it. So now I'll do some homework before I go back to bed. Hallelujah!

Finders Keepers

So at work the other day I took my lunch break and decided to explore. While going through the basement, I found this.

I'll explore more later.

Let Me Count the Ways

I realized this evening why I love my job. First, I get to work with people on a short term basis. Next, I get to help them reach their short term goals. Thirdly, I get to give them hope and encouragement. And, I get to help people directly. No more medical billing, over the phone, pay your bill or I'll send you to collections type of help either. It is good and worthwhile.

And on that note, today at work I made someone cry.

Falsifying Documents

Well, here I am back from another day/night at work. The day was good, a bit busy at times but that's alright. So today me and a coworker did an intake together and I was supposed to do another one. The gentleman that came in was unable to complete the paperwork and so after being locked in a room he fell asleep. I was told that I should complete the paperwork and I thought, "Great. Once he wakes up, I will complete the paperwork." This was round 4-5PM. So the clock hits 11PM and the gentleman just wakes up. Having been unable to complete the paperwork honestly, I left a note for the next shift asking them to complete it. The paperwork consists of 3 pages of simple questions. (ie: Why are you here? Are you suicidal? Have you physically assaulted anyone before?) So apparently the next shift 'flips out' that they need to complete the paperwork so they tell me to fill out one page as if I really knew what was going on. The problem was, I have never seen nor even talked to the person that came in much less be aware of his situation. So how can I complete a single page stating what his problem is nor what the solution should be? Nonetheless they told me to do it. I objected and they said, "Just lie." So here it is (un)officially documented that the swing shift of CTC on 2/26/2007 suggested I falsify the document just so it would be complete. Also the person who shares my middle name as his first and worked a double shift today suggested I lie on the paperwork.

Need I say more?

Job Training

So . . . most often when I work the day shift on the psych ward, I have one supervisor. He doesn't care for me very much. He doesn't consider me to be a go-getter. Why do I say this? Because I haven't gone out, talked to all the patients, resolved all their issues, and got them out of the psych ward. Now why haven't I done this? Because it is the first job I have ever had truly interacting with people on a personal basis, much less people who are not fully mentally capable. So without any form of experience or training, wouldn't you be somewhat hesitant? Well . . . I am.

So the last time I worked the day shift on the psych ward was about 2 weeks ago, and it has been a nice break. I have been on the psych ward for the evening shift, but it is completely different and much more relaxed. Then again, by that point the patients have enough medication in them to sedate an entire army. But working on the night shift has been a good experience. On the psych ward it was less busy, but on Crisis triage I got some more experience by doing what I should be doing. It was really good.

Now, none of the above is really the point of this post. The point is to discuss some job training from last week. I attended a class called PRO-Act. Basically, it is a class we were required to take to learn how to defend ourselves if a client attacks us. It was pretty good. At times we had to act like patients and other times like workers. They gave me the 'Academy Award for acting the least like he normally does' on that day. I guess I could be a really good patient. Is that scary? Nonetheless the training was good. We learned various holds, how to safely restrain people, and then how to put them in restraints. Very interesting. Some days after the job I really want to leave and not come back and other days I'm really glad I'm there for the experience. I work the night shift today, so hopefully it will be good.

Who knew I'd be working at this type of job? Oh . . . but one more good note. I did get my tax refund back.

TurboTax Customer Service Is Pathetic

So I decide to go file my taxes by using TurboTax. I do everything and it shows I have a 'dependent exemption' which I do not qualify for. So I double check, I have no dependents, I did not check any boxes for any dependents . . . and I have tried to remove the automatic deduction in every way possible. Since that was unsuccessful, it is suggested I use TurboTax chat to resolve this. So I open it and this is what I see. The text you see in red are my thoughts, feelings, and sometimes the amount of time that has passed between statements. Excluding removing my tax forms, this is unedited.

Arnel A: Thank you for contacting TurboTax Help and Support, my name is Arnel A. How may I help you?
John: Yes, I need some help with the TurboTax Freedom Edition.
Arnel A: Hello. How may I help you?
John: It is giving me a personal exemption of $3300 stating I am caring for someone or I have a dependent. Neither of which are true, I want to correct this before I file my taxes.
Arnel A: I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this might have caused you. However, I am more than willing to help you. Let me make sure I understand your concerns, you are having problem with regards to personal exemption topic. Is that correct?
Um . . . did you not read what I just wrote?
John: Not necessarily the topic, I entered the info stating I am single and it gave me the exemption anyway.
Arnel A: Did you put any dependents on the Dependent subtab?
John: None
Wait . . . maybe he does not speak English and doesn't understand something so complex.
John: Pardon, no I did not.
Arnel A: Thank you. Before we proceed, will it be okay if I address you by your first name?
John: Sure
Arnel A: Thank you. John, here's what we're going to do.
Arnel A: Please kindly open your Turbotax program.
Less than three seconds pass
John: I am on the website.
Throughout the delay, I see 'Arnel is responding' flash on an off the screen. Five minutes pass.
Arnel A: You have been idle for more than 3 minutes. If you have sent your question and I have not yet replied to it, please resubmit your question. If I do not hear back from you within the next two minutes, I will need to close this session.
Can you not read?
John: I stated that I am on the website. I'm waiting for your response.
Thirty seconds pass, maybe that is way too simple. I probably need to spell it out for him.
John: I have attempted to do my taxes through TurboTax Online Freedom Edition and this is where the problem with the exemption is occurring. Please advise.
Another minute passes.
John: Are you there?
Arnel A: Yes. I am still here.
Arnel A: Can you please open your Turbotax Freedom Edition?
John: It already is.
Wait, too complex.
John: It is open. Please continue.
Arnel A: Okay. Can you please click on the Personal Info tab.
Okay . . . I know if I don't respond with something simple he will not know what to do.
John: Continue
Arnel A: Okay. Click on Dependents.
I already did this multiple times previously.
John: Done, continue.
Arnel A: Did you see any dependents on that page?
John: None are listed.
Wait, too complex again.
John: No. No dependents. Please continue.
Arnel A: Okay. John, do you see the Search Topics or Forms link at the upper center of your screen?
John: Yes
Arnel A: Okay. Kindly click on that.
Do I have to do it kindly?
John: Done, continue.
Arnel A: A window will pop up and kindly enter the keyword "personal exemption" on the space provided.
Arnel A: Select the second option then click Go.
Arnel A: Are you now in the page entitle Review Your Exemptions?
John: Yes, I see the page.
Arnel A: Okay. Do you see any exemptions there?
John: Yes, it states I qualify for a $3,300 exemption.
Arnel A: Are there any names that appear on that page?
John: My name.
Too complex again.
John: Otherwise, no.
Arnel A: Okay. It means you have exempted yourself which is not correct.
I have exempted myself, I HAVE DONE IT? No . . . the bloody PROGRAM exempted me.
Arnel A: Do you need that form?
John: I do not believe so.
Too complex?
Arnel A: Okay. Would you want to delete that form?
Hurrah, finally a resolution!
John: How can I do that? Please advise.
Arnel A: Okay. You may follow the steps below.
Arnel A: 1. Open your return in TurboTax Online.
2. Select Other Options from the box on the left side of your screen, and then select Delete a Form.
3. Select Delete next to the form you want to remove.
Didn't help. I was already sitting on that screen before he sent the instructions.
John: And which form should I delete?
Arnel A: The one that pertains with that exemption.
Wow, how smart is that! If I knew which form it was, I would not be asking the question.
John: I do not know which form that would be. This is why I am asking you.
Thirty seconds pass.
John: So, which form is it? Please advise.
Arnel A: It is the form 8914.
Arnel A: Do you see it?
John: That form is not listed.
Arnel A: What are the forms listed on that page?
John: (Listed Forms). Otherwise there are various schedules and worksheets.
Arnel A: Okay. Can you tell me all those worksheets and schedules?
You want to play this game? BRING IT ON!!!
John: Absolutely.
John: Listed 8 Forms . . .
John: Listed 5 Forms . . .
John: Listed 10 Forms . . .
John: That is all.
Arnel A: Okay. John, will it be okay if I will be idle for two minutes in order to research the best resolution for your issue?
Your grammar is not the best . . . but at least you're FINALLY going to ask someone about it.
John: (Sarcasm) That would be fantastic. Thank you.
Arnel A: You are very welcome.
Arnel A: Thank you for patiently waiting.
John: (Sarcasm) My pleasure.
Arnel A: John, may I know if you have filed Married filing jointly?
John: No, I am not married.
Maybe I'll specify for his poor little brain.
John: I am filing 'Single'
Arnel A: Can you please review your filing status?
John: I saw the filing status when you wanted me to check for dependents, nonetheless I will go to that page once again.
Must clarify.
John: My filing status is listed on the page as 'Single'
Arnel A: Okay. Thank you for that.
John: Please continue.
Arnel A: John, I have found out that you are entitled for that credit.
OH NO YOU DON'T!!!
Arnel A: So, you do not have to worry if there is an exemption amount in your return.
THEN WHY IN THE . . .
John: According to the instructions on the Freedom Edition, it says I am not eligible for the exemption unless I am a caretaker or have a dependent. What makes me eligible? Please explain.

Work: Day 3

Not bad. Not bad at all. This time I was on the 'Crisis Triage' floor. IT was very good too. There was some training involved, I worked with some good people and I had some good client interaction too.

I can see how this job is going to be good, challenging, and help me in my future profession as well. By direct interaction I am going to be able to experience more of the problems, difficulties, and challenges that families continue to face. At times it will not be easy, but this experience will help me understand to better aide them.

With that said, yesterday was especially good because I was able to talk with a woman in a very difficult situation. We had a good discussion, she realized some goals and things she would like to accomplish in her life. It was a good discussion and without being there at that time it wouldn't have happened. It will be good.

Now I'm glad I've got nothing going on this weekend. It is nice just to relax for a bit.

Work: Day 2

Well, now that I have gone through today I can look at yesterday with an open mind and complete subjectiveness.

Yesterday sucked.

Basically, I opened the door to the floor that I was supposed to work on and there were people wandering up and down the halls talking to themselves. The door I went through then shut . . . and I didn't have a key to get out. Come to find out on this floor of the building, on which I was assigned to work, was the floor where they kept the clinically insane. Of course, that is the technical term for it. In short, I had 45 minutes of discussion with one of the people there and 7 hours and 15 minutes of 'interacting' with the clients. By interacting I mean standing in the hallway watching them all pass me hundreds of times. Obviously the training was a success since I knew exactly what I was supposed to do on the first day.

Now today was completely opposite from yesterday. I started on the detox floor, attended a few meetings, read charts, familiarized myself with the policies and I actually spoke to the supervisor for that shift. I loved it! Honestly, I would prefer to work on that floor with that team. I say this for another reason too. One of the people that worked with me the day before also worked with me today and she told me how b*****y the people on the 5th floor (ie: clinically insane floor) were. We laughed and discussed how neither of us ever wanted to go back there again. Fortunately if I do, at least I've got an ally.

So tomorrow I'm on a new floor too. Hopefully it will be even better.

And if by chance you missed my comments about my first day of work, go here.
