Moving On

I am officially past my eating disorder. I mentioned how I had not eaten for a while due to varying reasons. My stomach hurt, I tried eating, it didn't feel good . . . but I continued to eat when I should have even though I didn't feel like it. Yesterday I had my (what used to be) weekly spinach salad with everything in it . . . and I decided that I hadn't stuffed myself in a while so I did. And it felt great.

I have been eating healthy again and physically, I feel much better.

Speaking of which, did I mention that my other roommate only has 11 days left in the house?

Boundaries

Has it really been over a week? Wow, things have been busy. This past week I had a very tiring week of therapy with some very intense cases. Within the next two months, things need to start winding down and I'm trying to plan how to do it.

I had a very difficult day at work on Friday because there is a very large individual who I do not want to work with because (honestly), I'm afraid of him. He is very loud and a DMIO (dangerously mentally ill offender). On Friday whenever he was around I physically shut down. After realizing why, I spoke to my coworkers and the next night was much better. They helped and I did not need to associate with him. And comically enough, last night was beautiful and simple.

No updates except that (as happens every year) my job doesn't know if they'll be around next year. Ah well.

Everything Pirate

First of all, don't forget how to talk like a pirate.

My pirate name is:

Mad John Vane

Every pirate is a little bit crazy. You, though, are more than just a little bit. You tend to blend into the background occasionally, but that's okay, because it's much easier to sneak up on people and disembowel them that way. Arr!

Find out your name at PirateQuiz.com.

You are The Quartermaster

You, me hearty, are a man or woman of action! And what action it is! Gruesome, awful, delightful action. You mete out punishment to friend and foe alike – well, mostly to foe, because your burning inner rage isn’t likely to draw you a whole lot of the former. Still, though you may be what today is called “high maintenance” and in the past was called “bat-shit crazy,” the crew likes to have you around because in a pinch your maniacal combat prowess may be the only thing that saves them from Jack Ketch. When not in a pinch, the rest of the crew will goad you into berserker mode because it’s just kind of fun to watch. So you provide a double service – doling out discipline AND entertainment.

What's Yer Inner Pirate?

Get a pirate personality here.

I wish you all a happy talk like a pirate day. I be celebratin' by stayin' in bed all day, orderin' pizza, and not showerin'. That's what a pirate would do after all. Oh aye, and I'm plunderin' me roommates room for any booty.

I think me nephew said it best of all.

Red Dwarf . . . Returns

From the Red Dwarf Website:

New Red Dwarf Specials Confirmed

New specials? Proper information? After all the rumours? Oh smeg yes.

reddwarf.co.uk has the facts. As announced by Robert Llewellyn for Grant Naylor Productions this week at the UKTV seasonal press launch, the project is a short series of brand new specials to celebrate the 21st birthday of Red Dwarf.

Doug Naylor will be masterminding the four half-hour instalments, and the regular cast will all be reprising their iconic roles. They are being made by GNP for UKTV's free-to-air channel, Dave - our new best friends!

Red Dwarf repeats on Dave - including an anniversary weekend run - have picked up remarkable numbers since the channel was reborn on Freeview, and it's becoming clear to all concerned that the show is picking a new, third generation audience. With the usual involvement from Red Dwarf partners BBC Worldwide, you can also expect international broadcasts to follow (and, we'd imagine, a top-quality DVD release in the fullness of time).

It's very new news to me - I really only fully heard the details yesterday, Robert told comedian/host Michael McIntyre. We're doing four new shows with the original cast. Two of them are going to be, like, proper episodes of Red Dwarf. One of them is so exciting I've been asked not to say anything about that because other people will steal the idea - and it is a great idea, quite challenging for us as performers. And the other one is a kind of behind-the-scenes-y... the truth. There's been so many rumours and gossip about Red Dwarf, about whether there's going to be a movie and whether we all get on, all those things... The downside for me, which is just dawning on me now, is I've got to do the 'rubber' thing again, which I haven't done for ten years.

For the record, and direct from the makers, the details of the four shows right now - while wholly subject to change - are:

Show One - The Making Of The Specials
A highly entertaining look at what goes on behind the scenes on a Red Dwarf production.
Show Two - Red Dwarf Special: Part One
The cast get back into character, and costume, a decade on...
Show Three - Red Dwarf Special: Part Two
The adventure continues...
Show Four - A Clip Show With a Serious Difference
The cast do it their way. Red Dwarf as you have never, ever seen it before!

The shows will broadcast sometime in 2009 and, if successful, could pave the way for further Red Dwarf TV projects. Thanks to movie and broadcaster wrangles, Grant Naylor haven't been in a position to produce new Red Dwarf since Series VIII went out to audiences of over eight million in 1999. This exciting development suggests a new and shiny future for everyone's favourite sci-fi comedy.

To be kept in the loop as we cover the new production, register your email address with reddwarf.co.uk in the box at the bottom of the page.

Is it a Bad Sign When . . .

. . . you realize that you are humming the tune to Soarin' Over California. Once the realization hits, you have to go find it in your music collection to listen to it? Good thing for iTunes.

I have a feeling this is telling me something, but I'm not entirely sure what . . .

Non-Fluctuating Mood

So yesterday was probably one of the best days I have had in very long time. For the period of about a week I was despondent. I could have cared less what happened, I had no desire to leave my room much less make food.

A lot of this was because one of my two roommates basically leaves messes everywhere, doesn't clean them up, and blames them on everybody else. I stopped cleaning up for him because I realized that would do no good and teach him nothing. Instead I just went into a 'personal funk' as I now call it and stopped doing things altogether. As always when I get in that state of mind I simply need to realize it, go through the motions, and within a day or two, I am fine. So I went through the motions on Sunday and Monday and by yesterday I was feeling fantastic.

You know it's a wonderful day when you didn't get enough sleep and half of your client's cancel yet you're still feeling pretty good. I felt so full of peace and happiness yesterday that a truck probably could have hit me and I wouldn't have cared.

Anyway, life is good now because the homeowner told my other roommate that he has 30 days to move out . . . so the mess will be gone.

Hallelujah!

Fish Lake Pictures

So when I was in Utah I spent 3-4 of my days in Fish Lake. It was awesome, peaceful, and wonderful. I wish I could stay longer but alas the price and the lack of funds. So here are a few pictures.

This was our view from the cabin.

While riding in a boat I saw the stream behind us from the boat and thought about how where we've been shapes who we are.

Apparently Javis couldn't take all the excitement.

And this is my most recent photo with my adorable niece and nephew.

Hermit Day

So today I took an unofficial poll of 4 people that I communicated with today. All of them, myself being excluded, admitted to having the strongest desire to be a hermit, stay in the house, and not associate with anybody.

I have noticed that things like this go in waves. Everybody is irritated or a large group of people are oddly happy. I guess I'm wondering if anybody else had a hermit-type day or specifically wanted to today? If not, that's alright. I actually turned down hanging out with someone I'd like to just because I'm not in the mood to go outside.

Welcome to Hermit Day 2008!

the Mind's Eye

Two things, as I often do. Have you ever had one of those dreams where everything seems completely logical, but the moment you wake up you realize the fallacy in logic? Also, I've always been told that you're not supposed to be able to read in dreams because the different hemispheres of the mind . . . bla, bla, bla. At least for me, that is also false.

With that said, my most recent dreams involved me going to a class and then taking off on a trip for Europe. I read the brochure and some of the places in Europe that I was going to be traveling to were Hong Kong, Rio De Janeiro, and then Uruguay. I was completely excited, finished attending the class, said goodbye to my family, had my bag packed and was in the airport waiting to go . . . when I woke up.

Maybe my mind is trying to tell me something.
