Super Busy

It has been the most interesting day . . . and yet not. I woke up, poked around for a while, went food shopping while talking to my sister for nearly two hours. Overall, it was great fun. Then I stuffed myself with a massive breakfast until I went to work. I ended up on my more favorite of the three units, Crisis Triage. For the first several hours the phone would not stop ringing, I did an intake and finally after four hours, I was able to pause for a breather. Two of my clients were Spanish speaking, one of which asked me 30 questions every time he passed me in the hall and the other . . . lets just say I needed to do some translating I never thought I would have to. So finally on my break I went outside and got locked out of the building in an area that is fenced off and has no other access to any other doors. So I hopped the 10 foot fence (boy was I scared when I jumped off the top) and safely hit the grass. I returned inside and kept working until the next intake I was going to do was a woman who only spoke Vietnamese. It was impossible to communicate. Several people tried to call a translator . . . but at 10:00PM on a Friday, who is really doing that anyway? So fortunately one of my friends speaks some Vietnamese. I received permission, had her explain two very brief things to the client and the client went to bed. If someone is in a crisis and they come to crisis triage . . . don't you think they should be able to explain what the crisis is? Nonetheless, she went to bed . . . I filled out other paperwork and came back home.

So what did I learn? I need to brush up on my Spanish vocabulary, I need to calm down when there is a lot going on, and lastly . . . I need to avoid going out that door ever again.

Quotable Quotes

I've been wanting to do this for a while, just post some quotes that I love. Some of them are out of context, but they make me smile anyway. Free lunch to whoever can accurately guess where they're from.

C: Does this look like the work of little green men?
M: Grey . . . The Reticulan skin tone is actually grey. They're notorious for their extraction of terrestrial human livers due to iron depletion in the Reticulan galaxy.
C: You can't be serious.
M: Do you have any idea what liver and onions go for on Reticula?

M: (While looking at a magazine centerfold) This woman claims to have been taken on board a spaceship, and held in an anti-gravity chamber without food and water for three days.
S: Anti-gravity is right.

M: I would never lie - I willfully participated in a campaign of misinformation.

M: I have to admit I've fulfilled one of my boyhood fantasies.
S: Yeah, it ranks right up there with getting a pony and learning to braid my own hair.

RO: Well sir, the 'meteor' seems to be hovering over a small town in east Wisconsin.

S: So what is our profile of the killer? Indeterminate height, weight, sex. Unarmed, but extremely attractive?

And my favorite thus far:

SD: Ninety-nine percent of people in this world are fools, and the rest of us are in great danger of contagion.

That's as far as I've gone as of yet. I'll add more later . . . whether you care or not.

NEW UPDATE, HURRAH

Well, not so much a new update as much as I wanted to change it from the previous post and nothing exciting is going on. Hmmm . . . what could I say? Hey, I know! Two great things.

1) I learned that one of my horribly lazy ex-coworkers will no longer be working there soon. Hurrah! I'm excited for all of my other ex-coworkers because now they don't have to deal with his crap (in more ways then one, I'll let you imagine that).

2) On Friday I went to an amazing wine bar called Café Divino. The crab cakes were wonderful and the ocean of crab was succulent, flavorful, and divine. I guess the restaurant lived up to its name. And if you know me then no I didn't have any wine. Sheesh, why even ask?

So yeah! That's the update. Cheese!

Another Grade Update

Howdy, yes it's that time of year again. And once again, "this is not to show off or brag, it is simply an update for those at home who are wondering how I did."

Now there had better not be any undue pressure to do this again.
