Food Binge

Since my surgery, I have gone through food phases.  One phase consists of not wanting to cook so I order food in or make frozen pizzas.  One of the Thai restaurants nearby loves me in that phase.  This one usually lasts for a week or two.  Another phase is cooking with a crockpot so I have enough food for 2-3 weeks.  I tend to make a few crockpot meals for 2-3 days in a row.  Another phase is what I call my mindfulness phase.  Basically I go grocery shopping, purchase a bunch of healthy food and then actively make my dinners over the next few weeks.  Snacks consist of vegetables or fruits with a tad bit of dressing or dip for flavor.  And I do mean a tad bit, I prefer not to drown them.  There's also my I have too much food in my house phase which means I just end up cooking whatever I have in my freezer, cupboards or fridge until I'm satisfied I've eaten the food I purchased.  The last phase I can think of is the freezer phase.  I legitimately stare in my freezer until I can make a meal with whatever I have in there.  That one normally lasts for a few days as well.  And then there's my normal phase.  I cook dinner, use stuff in the freezer and order in sometimes.  In that phase I usually have dessert intermittently but not in the other phases.

I'd imagine there is more, but those food phases happen more often than others.  One thing I'm grateful for is in my order-in phase, I don't do burgers or most chain restaurants.  There is enough variety around here to have something unique every night.  That's the joy of living in a large-ish city.  Now if I was in a small town, I would probably end up eating somewhere that served a great cherry pie more often than not.
